(This logo is just for show. is irrelevant to the questions) Please post any logo ideas and specify which idea it pertains to.. thanks.  SCAD (Southern Cross Alliance Defense) is the name for our military portion of SCA. Keep in mind that we will still use the base of the SCA logo. I don't have much ideas for this one but any will be nice. Next I need to create a logo as well as a name for the military fleet that will be comprised of the best of the best... most skilled captains, crew, pilots etc.  Since the military will be comprised of multiple battle groups. This one will also contain the leaders of SCAD.  Please specify what topic your suggestion is for... thanks.

Great! In discussing the "Huntsmen" idea with Morrogin, he explained that SCA is keen on being very flat hierarchically and non-elitist, which I think is an awesome quality for SCA to maintain. So we decided the Huntsmen would be a covert branch, not the bestest marines, but a marine outfit used on missions with a different more stealthy focus. I'd recommend an approach like that to the fleets too, so rather than "best of the best", focus the squad around a type of mission or gameplay. Otherwise I'll feel sad and left out if I'm not in that squad Big Grin

Indeed Fractal otherwise I doubt I'd be in the Fleet, I am certainly not one of the best of the best. It would feel a little like So long and for the ships Al. Mind you, given ships like the Javelin have a large crew compliment and escape pods for 80 (likely more these days) it is also likely that a taskforce would need most or a large portion of the alliance. That isnt to say we don't to encourage everyone to improve. For myself,I always envisaged the fleet having the standard SCA logo and each ship/ Flotilla/ squadron having a different logo. Of course I also envisaged a single Destroyer group being made up of a Javelin, 2-3 Idris (1x M and 2x P preferably) and 3-4 Polaris, with other ships being added to the formation as required. With that view in mind at a minimum I would be shy 1 Polaris to provide the desired escorts for the Javelin I have. But I think 1 P and M and 3 Polaris to provide what I'd prefer to be the standard make up of a taskforce or force projection fleet. Similarly it would be nice to ensure any Endeavour Hope where always escorted as well, probably the same is true for any crucible. I know Haze has ideas for the desired escorts for Hull C,D, and imprtantly Hull E although both Haze an I have talked in the past about the escorts and maximising trade, ie cargo space.

My exact thoughts. Every group willl have the seperate patches, SCA patch as well as their respective group. Maybe it can lack a Jav but still have a nice amount of Idris, polaris, and fighters. And have the most skilled and best decision making crew. They will be able to perform almost any task given to them at the best ability the force can find.

Al, I think Snake is saying the military fleet (SCAD) will be open to all, but he's also thinking of another fleet for the "best of the best".
refining.
